At Bodmin Jail Hotel, exceptional dining is at the heart of every guest experience, and we are delighted to welcome internationally renowned chef David Newstead as our new Executive Chef.
With an impressive career spanning luxury hotels, award-winning restaurants, celebrity clientele, and global culinary consultancy, Chef David brings a wealth of experience, creativity, and passion to the kitchen of Bodmin Jail Hotel.
A Global Culinary Journey
Chef David’s culinary career began in London’s West End, where he honed his skills in some of the UK’s leading restaurants and hotels before taking his expertise across the world. Over the years, he has held Executive Chef positions in destinations including London, Moscow, Saudi Arabia, the Maldives, and Thailand.
His reputation for excellence quickly earned him an elite client list that has included royalty, movie stars, athletes, and supermodels. During his time as Head Chef for Rosewood in Riyadh, David became a preferred private chef for members of the Saudi royal family and developed a successful private aviation dining operation.
Award-Winning Experience
Throughout his career, David has built an outstanding reputation for restaurant consultancy and luxury hospitality leadership. In the UK, several restaurants under his guidance achieved regional finals in prestigious “Restaurant of the Year” awards for both food and service.
In 2010, he was selected to launch the restaurant for TV personality Jimmy Doherty at Jimmy’s Farm in Ipswich, a project that proved highly successful and further cemented his standing within the industry.
David later founded Blue Daffodil Events, a luxury event company that went on to win multiple awards, including recognition from entrepreneur Theo Paphitis in 2017.
From Luxury Resorts to Bodmin Jail Hotel
David’s international experience continued with consultancy roles at some of the world’s most prestigious resorts, including the breathtaking Soneva Jani in the Maldives and Fairmont’s luxury Sirru Fen Fushi resort.
Most recently, he spent two years as Executive Chef at the award-winning Soneva Kiri resort in Thailand, where he combined refined fine dining with locally inspired cuisine in one of the world’s most exclusive destinations.
His passion for hospitality, fresh ingredients, and memorable dining experiences makes him the perfect addition to Bodmin Jail Hotel.
